A Pair of Detentions Following London Heathrow ‘Pepper Spray’ Incident

This incident caused the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 car park.

Two more people have been arrested in connection with a theft at London's Heathrow Airport in which over twenty individuals sustained injuries by a substance believed to be an irritant spray, according to law enforcement.

A man, 24, was taken into custody in the Lambeth area on suspicion of theft and assault and a woman, 23 was detained on suspicion of conspiracy to commit robbery. Both individuals are still being held, the force said.

The arrests follow an investigation into an assault at the multi-level parking garage at Heathrow's Terminal 3 on Sunday. Before the attack, a pair of female travelers were robbed of their luggage after getting out of a car park lift.

A three-year-old girl was one of the injured during the incident. Five people went to hospital for medical care and were later released.

Police arrested a 31-year-old man on suspicion of theft and assault close to the scene. He has since been released under investigation as the investigation proceeds.

Authorities were alerted at approximately 08:10 GMT after reports came in regarding several individuals hurt by a noxious substance believed to be pepper spray.

The assault - an event that police said was a standalone incident and not considered terrorism - caused delays to rail services and the partial closure of the Central Terminal Area tunnel and the T3 car park briefly.
