The highly-awaited second season of the adult animated musical series Hazbin Hotel launches on the streaming platform soon, and fan speculation has been widespread.
Season 1 introduces a large cast of characters living within the afterlife, sets them at odds with musical numbers about their clashes, and establishes tense rivalries and angsty, affectionate connections that drive audience devotion.
The community's expectations for season 2 vary widely, but certain threads emerge over and over: Will Angel Dust break free from Valentino? Will we find out more about the mysterious "deal" constraining the enigmatic Alastor? Might certain characters' relationships evolve?
"Obviously, I don't make the show with fan service as the main goal," the showrunner stated recently. "However I believe that me being a fan of my own show implies there's a lot of it just naturally. I also am eager for these things, and I hope some of these things to happen, and obviously some of these things are meant to happen in the show!"
She reveals her long-term vision is for a five-season run of Hazbin Hotel. Future installments have received approval by Prime Video and A24, which produce the series.
That might mean fans have to be patient for some of the major resolutions — but they could be shocked at how quickly the new season progresses, and how many of what they're anticipating unfolds now.
"I feel like people are going to be highly satisfied," the creator notes. "There are several debut moments. I think we get some really amazing reveals, some really cool origin tales, and even just simple things, [like] I hope this character gets a song. […] Audiences will experience additional musical numbers from the characters we didn't get to hear before."
She's certainly aware of the guesses and hopes about the upcoming season — especially in the form of audience prediction charts.
"I've seen a couple people create a prediction grid about season 2," she mentions. "Naturally I won't share it, but I've actually done some of them, and almost all of them have almost a bingo. I was like, Oh, if you put this [event] in this spot, it would be a bingo. So that leads me to believe we do a lot [of what fans are waiting for in this season], because I was like, Oh, there's multiple potential bingos on this card. So that makes me happy."
Hazbin Hotel the second season launches on Prime Video on Oct. 29.
